Dear Readers:

Happy New Year!

We’re delighted and proud to say 2012 kicks off LCW’s15th year of publishing! There have been many challenges…and many, many blessings. A wise man once said, “Happiness is in the journey, not the destination.” This is so very true.

In this issue we welcome some new faces to LCW. Joining our family of recommended businesses is family-owned and-operated Landis Garage. With freezing temperatures and snow in the forecast, you’ll want to check out their tips on oil changes, which are key for your car’s performance! They’ll be providing valuable information throughout the year to keep your vehicle in top running condition in any weather.

Also, why not consider giving your family dog or cat a special treat this winter at Geri’s Pet Salon. Located on the Oregon Pike (across from the Farm Museum), Geri’s professionally trained staff specializes in individual care with a commitment to no-cage drying. Geri’s Salon is perfect for pampering your special little (and big) pets.Speaking of pets, we extend a warm welcome to Carissa Hershey and her mobile dog grooming business, Shaggy to Chic. The is the perfect solution for any puppy that dislikes car rides and pet owners who prefer not to drive with an excited, nervous dog in the car.

2012 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Lancaster County, with a number of businesses expanding their services. We extend very best wishes to Dr. Sean Moriarty and Lancaster Dental Arts as they open their new multispecialty practice on Walnut Street in downtown Lancaster and CPRS Physical Therapy, who are also expanding to offer specialty services. Smoketown Veterinary Hospital is constructing a specialty Dental Care Wing—because pets need dental care just like we do! Body & Sole Reflexology will be moving to their new location at 1821 Oregon Pike, celebrating their Grand Reopening on March 22.

If you’ve ever wondered how changes in hormones can affect our overall physical and mental health, Dawn Hiestand’s new book, The Hormone “Shift” (available in February), may have some answers.

Mark your calendars for Family Wealth & Wisdom’s College Planning seminars on Jan. 31, Feb. 21 and Feb. 28. Additional financial seminars are scheduled for March 20 and 27. Bridge of Hope, that wonderful local charitable organization dedicated to helping homeless women and children, is having their annual Garden Luncheon on April 4.

Remember to take time to enjoy the beauty of our ever-changing weather. Snow is beautiful and Spring, with all her promise, is not too far away.

Happy Valentine’s Day and God Bless!
